Everybody is crazy in this enjoyably offbeat comedy that is most instructional in a highly illegal manner - it shows you how to rob a bank in three ways. A trio of disgruntled employees of a desert-town savings bank conspire to empty its coffers on the same day without bothering to inform one another. Sheila (Alicia Silverstone) loots the ATM to get even with her two-timing bank manager-boyfriend Rick (Joshua Leonard). Stuart (Paulo Costanzo) steals cash from the mini-vault to burn at a Las Vegas casino. Jason (Woody Harrelson) raids the safe deposit box of a cold-hearted millionaire (John Cleese) for killing the mother of his pet duck. Meanwhile, some nutcase (Rachael Leigh Cook) plots revenge against that same millionaire for making her blow money on his useless motivational videos. The thrill in this heist farce comes from seeing its criss-crossing stories converge into a diabolically quirky bind. |
